At Drawboard, we deeply appreciate the users who have supported us over the years. We understand that some of the recent changes to our app may have been frustrating, and we want to acknowledge the impact they may have had on you.
For those who purchased Drawboard PDF for around $10/5€ between 2013 and 2020, we want to provide some context on how the app has evolved. In May 2020, we made the Basic tier free for all users. Then, in March 2023, we made the difficult decision to move a few features— including Pressure Ink and Unlimited Favorites —from Basic to Pro. We know this wasn’t a popular change, and while it was necessary, we want to acknowledge the impact it may have had on you. Please know that this decision wasn’t made lightly—it was essential to keep the app sustainable in the long term. There had been some confusion about whether the $10/5€ purchase entitled users to updates, lifetime updates, or something in between.
Since the very beginning, we have ensured that every user who purchased the Basic version for $10/5€ continued to receive updates, even as Windows evolved from Windows 8 to the latest versions. Without these updates, many users would have eventually found their app unusable on newer devices and Windows versions. However, maintaining long-term compatibility while also continuing development requires striking a balance, which ultimately led to these changes.

We've heard your concerns and want to recognize the early supporters who helped shape Drawboard PDF into what it is today. To show our appreciation, we’re introducing two solutions:
For those who prefer the original experience, we’re making the version of Drawboard PDF as it was before the May 2020 changes available for download. This version will continue to work on today’s devices, ensuring you can use the app as you originally purchased it.
We’re restoring access to the features that moved from Basic to Pro for our early supporters. This means that if you purchased Drawboard PDF before 2020, you’ll regain access to:
- Pressure ink
- Unlimited favorites toolbar
- Unlimited signature library
- A few extra features as a token of our appreciation
